A Journey to Boylston Street

On 7 May 2017 I surprised myself with a fantastic BQ. It was an exciting, emotional day for me and I am greatly looking forward to finally being able to train for the prestigious Boston Marathon! Right now it is still 11 months away but it’s never too early to get my act in gear.

Hitting the qualifying standard was merely a first step. I still have the process of registering, training, and getting there. Then there is the race itself. It’s going to be a long road to prepare for a great race, but I must say, I am looking forward to the journey!

Now that the excitement of registration is over and done with, I’ve been trying to NOT think about Boston. I have a whole marathon to complete and recover from before I can get started. But I can’t help myself – I’m just too excited! I’m proud of myself for having made the cut, but also feel like I am not a Boston-quality runner. Atlantic City will help me set aside some of those inadequacy fears and a nice long holiday break should help clear my mind, or at least distract me until it is time to formulate a more concrete plan.
